And quite frankly you may be, if you buy into either one of these narratives without serious questions…
1. I came across the following before the holidays, and never returned to fully address it, except for a mention on the podcast:
The article (amusingly featured in an online forum called “Science Alert”), claims that data collected from Singapore over the last decade “suggests” (sic) that air pollution – specifically “tiny particles in the air,” can “trigger” (take note of that action verb) sudden cardiac arrests, which of course makes the climate change agenda even more prescient and profound!
I mean, if not air pollution (aka: global warming), what other relatively-new phenomenon could trigger “sudden” cardiac events? (#RhetoricalQuestion)
And is THIS, then, the “new normal” vernacular?
No, it’s not funny, it’s sardonic and offensive, but those of us who apagogically urged caution, were cast out, stigmatized, fired, de-platformed, and mocked, so it continued, and here we landed; our reductio ad absurdum arguments fully realized.
But wait…there’s more…
2. This week, another new phenomenon has been found, suggesting eggs may trigger…wait for it… “sudden” blood clots!
(HT:RH)
Yes, they think you’re that f*cking stupid.
So much for Bilbo’s riddle: “A box without hinges, key or lid. Yet golden treasure inside, is hid.”
And Gollum’s answer: “Eggs-es!”
In one of the most offensively-structured written pieces I have read to date – and that’s saying something – the egg yolk-contained culprit is…choline. Choline, you ask? Yes, choline…
You know, that sinister substance crucial to our physiological survival?
…that cataclysmic chameleon found in all the healthy foods they don’t want you to consume lest you actually become healthy yourself, but to the detriment of your [ostensible] carbon footprint?!
…that nasty nutritional nemesis, which according to WebMD – the bastion of far right wing conspiracy theories – is “essential to brain health and nervous system function, and plays a role in memory and learning processes” among many, many other benefits?
But fear not, dear readers of that socially-promoted piece, “scientists and researchers” mentioned therein pivot to suggest that only high (though undefined) levels of choline are bad, and that only choline supplementation can put you in a bad way (or save your life ~Ed.). In fact, don’t ever, ever take them… like ever, says a man from the Cleveland Clinic with a lot of degrees after his name…
Which segues perfectly into our weekly reminder that thermometers also have a lot of degrees, and given the last three years, everyone should be quite clear as to why nurses stick them where they do, which is also – quite ironically – where they are most effective, but I digress…
Here’s what isn’t explored in the article:
How many people are walking around with surplus levels of choline?
How many are deficient in choline?
How many have died due to both conditions?
How is the bioavailability of dietary and supplementary choline measured?
How easy/difficult is it to get “dangerously-high” levels of choline?
How easy/difficult is it to become deficient?
How is “dangerously-high” and “deficient” defined in each person or cohort?
Are deficient levels of choline more or less toxic than “acceptable” or higher levels?
If our bodies do not produce sufficient levels of choline, what stands in the gap?
If dietary choline sources are not available, is supplementation better than being deficient?
Until some or all of those questions are explored, this article might as well be titled:
“Our Shameless, Proactive Pandering to Explain the Increase in “Sudden,” Fatal Blood Clots Other than #BigPharma’s Cardiac-Clot-Shot.”
All facetiousness and debate about the degree and benefits of supplementation aside, with all due respect, if you are not informed enough about the advantages of dietary choline, and have never questioned whether or not you are getting enough to warrant supplementation, then you are probably not informed enough to even consider this absolute garbage of an article.
