Our thoughts and prayers are with 24 year old Damar Hamlin, his family, friends, teammates and fans. Damar collapsed during the Monday Night Football game against the Bengals.
Funds to Damar’s charity, Chasing M’s Foundation, which raises money for toy drives, have skyrocketed, and I doubt it will slow down anytime soon. A glimpse of a better, vanished time…Americans doing something positive and constructive after a tragedy. We encourage everyone to give to their favorite, vetted charities on a regular basis because it’s a win-win-win; good for others, good for the soul, good for checking the obedience box (Malachi 3:10).
As we wait for updates, we rule nothing out of bounds as to the cause of Damar’s collapse, and cautiously hope that we will get the unbridled truth, toward the end of preventing future occurrences. Sudden deaths among young athletes and millennials have been occurring at unusually high rates since early 2021, and every option as to the cause, should be comprehensively explored. Damar Hamlin and all those who’ve suffered this type of injury deserve nothing less.
One thing is certain: the NFL’s “Take a Knee” campaign was readjusted to its rightful perspective Monday night…the knees bent on the field, outside the stadium and in homes across America were not taken to sew division or discord over a resurrected evil or injustice, rather in unity to beseech the will of the One, who has defeated evil, who executes perfect justice, and sustains each and every one of us, breath by breath…
