Man, that NEVER gets old…and the joy he gets from playing is palpable.
When I watch Ed play that now, I think of Neil Peart, stoic percussionist for one of my other favorite bands, “Rush,” who we also lost to cancer in January of this year. During a documentary on the band, Neil disclosed that he “will never get tired of playing Tom Sawyer because it’s always difficult to play right, and any time I do play it right, I feel good!”
Indeed.
What Ed Van Halen did with his songs and solos, was equally unmatched.
True originals, masters and innovators gone too soon.
